Community Guidelines — Please Read Before Posting

General Conduct

  • Be constructive, not cruel. Critique ideas, not people. If you disagree with someone's approach or work, explain your perspective with specifics — don't just tear it down. We all started somewhere.

  • Stay on topic. Keep posts relevant to game development — design, programming, art, audio, business, tooling, and adjacent topics all welcome. Off-topic posts may be moved or removed.

  • No spam or self-promotion flooding. Sharing your own projects is encouraged! But don't post the same thing repeatedly or drop links without contributing to the community in other ways too.

NSFW and Sensitive Content

  • Tag NSFW content clearly. If your project contains mature themes, violence, sexual content, or other adult material, your post must include a [NSFW] tag in the title before any such content appears.

  • Keep thumbnails and previews safe for work. Even with an NSFW tag, preview images and video thumbnails must be SFW. Put mature content behind a clearly labeled link or spoiler tag.

  • No gratuitous content. Mature themes handled with craft and intentionality are fine to discuss. Content that exists purely to shock or offend with no connection to game development will be removed.

No Illegal Activity

  • No piracy or copyright infringement. Do not share, request, or link to pirated software, games, assets, or tools. This includes cracked engines, stolen asset packs, or unauthorized redistributions of licensed content.

  • No soliciting illegal services. Posting requests or offers for illegal work — asset theft, DMCA circumvention, unauthorized reverse engineering, etc. — is an immediate ban.

  • No doxxing or harassment. Sharing personal information about other members without consent is strictly prohibited, regardless of context.

Posting Quality

  • Search before you post. Common questions come up often — check existing threads before creating a new one. If you find a partial answer that needs more depth, revive that thread rather than starting fresh.

  • Write a clear title. "Help please" tells us nothing. "Unity: character controller not responding to input after scene reload" tells us a lot. A good title helps others find your thread later too.

  • Include context for feedback requests. If you're sharing a build or asking for critique, give us something to work with — what stage is the project, what are you unsure about, what kind of feedback are you looking for?

Collaboration and Hiring

  • Be upfront about compensation. Collaboration and hiring posts must clearly state what's being offered — paid, revenue share, or unpaid passion project. Vague posts will be removed.

  • No predatory arrangements. Rev-share posts for projects with no budget are fine if honest. Using misleading language to extract free work from newer developers is not.

Enforcement

  • Moderators have final say. Rule violations may result in post removal, a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban depending on severity and history. We'll always try to explain why action was taken.

  • Use the report button. If you see a post that violates these rules, report it rather than engaging. Let the mods handle it.

  • Appeals are welcome. If you think a moderation action was made in error, reach out to a mod directly. We're human and we can make mistakes.

Above all, this is a community built for people who love making games. Treat it like a place you want to stick around in — because that's exactly what it is. If you have suggestions for improving these guidelines, drop them in the meta thread. These rules will evolve as the community does.

Happy developing. 🎮
